Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookies

This may be the simplest dessert hack guaranteed to please. We discovered this when breaking in our new Cuisinart with the kids. The sweet of the sugar combines with the slightly salty, smoky flavor of the bacon to create a cookie every adult will be talking about. Just take Nestle Toll House cookie dough and add pre-cooked bacon bits to the top.

Ingredients:

Steps to Create:

PREPARE the bacon ahead of time in a skillet, cooking to medium doneness. The bacon should be pliable since it will continue to cook about another 7-9 minutes when put in the oven with the cookies. Set aside the bacon to cool on paper towels. Then use scissors or a knife to dice the bacon into 1/4in-1/6in squares.

PREHEAT oven to 375° F.

COMBINE flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in morsels. Spoon by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.

BAKE for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. The bacon should continue to crisp up, becoming golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.

TIME TO CREATE will be about 20 minutes, depending on thickness of bacon

EXTRA CREDIT if you go bake them on a Big Green Egg or indirect on a Grill which imparts more of a campfire-style taste. You can even use them instead of Graham Crackers in S’mores!
