Whether you’re firing up the grill or lounging by the pool, these Watermelon Margaritas are the perfect refreshing treat. Bursting with watermelon flavor and a hint of lime, this cocktail is a crowd-pleaser. We like to freeze extra chunks of watermelon to garnish. Let’s dive into the recipe!
Frozen Watermelon Margarita Recipe
Difficulty: EasyServings

minutesIngredients
12 ounces Reposado Tequila
12 ounces Lime Juice (we like fresh squeezed, 12-15 limes)
8 ounces Orange Liqueur (e.g. Cointreau)
1 medium sized seedless watermelon, cubed (for 8 ounces of Watermelon juice)
Coarse Salt or Sugar for Rim
1 Lime for garnish
2 tablespoons Simple Syrup (Optional)
Ice
Directions
- Prep Your Glasses: Begin by rimming your glasses with salt or sugar. Use a glass rimmer or rub a lime wedge around the rim of each glass, then dip the rim into a plate of coarse salt or sugar. We smoked salt in our Hasty Bake, which added an extra layer of flavor. Set aside.
- Blend the Watermelon: In a blender, combine the watermelon cubes and blend until smooth. Strain the juice through a fine mesh sieve to remove any pulp (don’t skip this step, there is a lot of pulp and small seed pieces).
- Juice your Limes: Squeeze limes until you have 12 ounces of juice. We prefer fresh lime juice, however, find the Santa Cruz Organic pure lime juice a good substitute and keep some on hand in the summer. Strain juice through a fine mesh sieve for a smoother cocktail.
- Mix the Margarita: In a large pitcher, combine the tequila, orange liqueur, and lime juice. Add approximately 8 ounces of watermelon juice to flavor preference. If you are serving frozen, recommend adding extra watermelon juice to keep the flavor intensity after blending with the ice. Taste and adjust sweetness with more juice or simple syrup.
- Blend: If you have a margarita machine, blend with ice. We LOVE our Margaritaville Bahamas Frozen Beverage Maker.
- Serve: Pour into prepared glasses. This recipe can be served frozen or over ice. Garnish with watermelon cubes or lime slices. You can grill limes for bonus flavor and cool points on the garnish.
- Enjoy: Kick back, relax, and enjoy your refreshing Watermelon Margaritas! These are perfect for sipping on a hot summer day or serving at your next BBQ party.
